Improving Cultural Work

Combating inequality & exclusion in the cultural and creative industries.

This month sees the launch of a new research network, funded by the AHRC, and dedicated to improving the conditions of cultural work. Run by Kate Oakley at the University of Leeds and Bridget Conor at Kings College London, the network will be holding seminars and workshops, reviewing research from across the globe and producing policy papers, articles and other material with the aim of examining the sources of inequality and exclusion in these sectors and helping to campaign for improvements.

We’ll be kicking off with a two day event in London this April and will be running a series of workshops on worker organisation, policy and law, regional inequality and education and training among other issues. We’ll be posting material from and about the network on this website, but if you’re interested in the events or would like to know more, please contact Kate Oakley at k.oakley@leeds.ac.uk or Bridget Conor at bridget.conor@kcl.ac.uk
