Media and Cultural Work is an online resource for those who want to find ways to make cultural work of all sorts better and more sustainable. It offers a space to highlight research on cultural work, publicise campaigns and events and provide a forum for debate. In this way, we hope not only to reflect what’s already going on in terms of campaigning, but to foster further interventions.

The website is hosted at the School of Media and Communication, University of Leeds, but it is designed to be an inclusive resource, available to anyone who feels there are serious problems in the cultural workforce that need addressing.

Getting involved

There is a huge amount of activity around cultural and media work and we need your help in keeping this resource up to date. Please do email us with your publications, campaigns and events and we’ll share them with the wider community.

Who we are

The website was conceived by David Hesmondhalgh and Kate Oakley, designed by Klaudia Szlifinska and Joanna Kania, and is currently maintained by Anna Ozimek.
